Sources & Destinations
Neurode MIDI speaks the language of your gear: Sources send messages, Destinations receive them. This page helps you find, understand, and trust what you see in the app.
Sources
Sources are anything that generates MIDI:
- Keyboards and controllers
- Sequencers and grooveboxes
- DAWs and virtual instruments (when they output MIDI)
- Neurode MIDI virtual outputs (when you create them)
In the Routing tab, sources appear on the left. Tap one to view its channel routes, filters, and transforms.
Tip: If a device is missing, quit and reopen the app or use Refresh Devices from the routing menu.
Destinations
Destinations are anything that receives MIDI:
- Synths and sound modules
- DAWs and virtual instruments (when they accept MIDI)
- Neurode MIDI virtual inputs (when you create them)
Destinations appear on the right. Tap one to see routes from any source and confirm signals are arriving.
Virtual Ports
Virtual ports let you connect Neurode MIDI to other apps on the same device.
- Virtual Input: A destination your DAW can send to
- Virtual Output: A source your DAW can receive from
You can create and name virtual ports in Settings. This is perfect for routing between apps without cables.
Activity Clues
Look for live feedback in the UI:
- The Flow Graph highlights active routes
- Activity dots show per-channel pulses
- The Event Visualizer gives a fun, ambient overview
If a source looks quiet, confirm the channel and the destination’s input is enabled.
